Most people are honest, but watch out for these common pitfalls.

Paying rent upfront

Never pay a deposit or rent for a property you did not see and without a real contract. Always ask for proof.

Do not pay cash to street offers. Use a registered gestor or a trusted service.

Take an official metered taxi or a fixed airport fare, and ask the price in advance.

Mind your belongings on busy terraces and markets. Keep your bag and phone close.
