Food and drink

The Costa Blanca kitchen is all about rice, fresh fish and sharing. Rice is traditionally a lunch dish here.

Rice dishes

Try the real paella valenciana from the Valencia region with classic ingredients, plus arroz a banda, arroz negro and fideua (noodles instead of rice).

Tapas and raciones

Share patatas bravas, croquetas, gambas al ajillo, tortilla espanola, jamon, boquerones and pulpo. Going bar to bar (tapear) is a lovely habit.

Local specialities

The Costa Blanca has its own regional dishes with fish, vegetables and olive oil. Ask a local bar for the day's speciality.

Sweet

Turron, the classic almond nougat, comes from Jijona in the region. There is also local pastry and delicious ice cream.

Where to taste it

Look for local bars and eateries away from the tourist squares; the weekday menú del día is a great-value, complete lunch. See also the Drinks page.
